| Limited silk-screen by Jonas Mekas Studio Renowned as the godfather of the American avant-garde and a pioneer of poetic cinema, Mekas was also a compulsive scribbler and inveterate doodler. This undated napkin in red marker and blue ink – perhaps from the late 1960s – reflects the spontaneous expression of feeling characteristic of his diary films, and with a floral motif that Mekas used frequently in his handwritten texts, a deep-rooted evocation of the countryside fields of his childhood.
